SHE'S here!!

You heard me, it's a GIRL! She's absolutely beautiful too!

It started out Wednesday night, I was having some very very very mild contractions, but ones that would wake me up every couple. I figured it was just strong braxton hicks. My dad, step mom and I went to families house and had breakfast and I was having again, very mild contractions, but about 7 minutes apart. I figured they were just strong braxton hicks. As the day went on, about lunch time I was starting to realize the contractions were getting a little more on the annoying pain side of things. I wanted to sit down and take them instead of going on with whatever I was doing. They were still only about 5 minutes apart so I didn't think anything of it.

W came home from work around 630 and made dinner and I ate and while eating I had to stop when I had a contraction just to focus on it. The pain wasn't THAT bad, but it was enough to steal my attention. Around 9 they were getting pretty bad and was having to have w press on my lower back to help alleviate the pain. At this point I thought I'd go down to bed to try to get some sleep. I went down and laid and was having A LOT of back pains with every contraction. I decided it was time to get in the shower to see if that would help. After about 15 minutes of it not getting any better I had W call my friend Amanda. I would have just asked W to help but he had to work the next morning at 6 am. He called her and she came over. She sat with me and talked and helped time my contractions, going from the shower to the tub. She would rub my back and really was a life saver. The contractions were moving a little closer together, but nothing significant. They had gone from about 6 minutes apart to about 5 minutes apart. We decided maybe I'd try to sleep again, so I came and got in bed and the back pain was horrendous again. I could not get away from it. I sat and labored in bed for about an hour or more when Amanda and W I guess made the executive decision to call the hospital. They let them know I was in labor and the contractions had got down to about 2.5 minutes apart.

We slowly got me dressed and made my way over to the hospital around 1 am. They monitored me and the baby about 20 minutes and everything was looking great. My doctor was called and arrived around 1:45 am. We had all made bets before we left to the hospital how far along I was. Amanda and W thought I was about 5 and I said 2. I was in complete denial and honestly was expecting it to get WAY worse. So doc ended up checking me and said I was dilated 8-9 cm!! I was completely shocked!! I labored on the ball some more and in the bed. The back pain continued and there's no way I would have been able to do it with out W. She checked me again about 2:45 am and she said I was 10, but I had a small lip of my cervix still there. She said if I felt like I needed to push I could though. So I pushed a couple times on the ball still then decided to crawl up on the table. I labored there for the next 30-45 minutes while they prepared everything. I pushed when I felt necessary, but didn't overdo it. At about 3:30 am I could tell I need to really start pushing. With every contraction I gave it all I had. At 3:40 am I heard people saying "we'll probably have a baby before 4 huh?" and my doctor said, oh yeah, easy. About 2 pushes later I gave one big push and she came out all at once. She did have the cord wrapped around her neck, but it wasn't a problem at all. She came out crying and it was the most beautiful sound She was born at 3:46 am on Friday, May 27, 2011. She weighed 7 lbs 15 oz and was 20.5 inches long. It was absolutely love at first sight. Needless to say, she's here and beautiful and now I will show her off

Due date approaching...

So, most of you are probably pretty confused by now. ha! Considering my last one I only had a week left and that was about a week and a half ago :P Well, let me explain! When we first found out we were pregnant we had to calculate when the first day of my LMP (last menstrual period) was. I knew for a fact it was on the day of the womens derby. For some reason, I thought that was August 7th. Calculating from there my due date was May 14th, 2011. Well, I finally got around to transferring all my info over to my new calendars and was shocked when I came across the REAL date of the women's derby... August 14th. Yes, a week later. So we had to move it back a week. Wayne was bummed because he had to wait longer and I was bummed because my dad is coming up during a certain time. All in all though it was a fact we had to accept.

Moving on to the GOOD news. :) I am due in 3 short days. I will PROBABLY go past due in some fashion, but hopefully not too bad. I had a doctor's appointment today and she said I still haven't dropped. She did check me though and she was surprised at how thinned out I was. She said I was 50% effaced and a fingertip dilated. I know this doesn't mean a whole lot, but it means my body is trying, it's working on it. The last time she checked me was when I was 35.5 weeks and my cervix was still very hard and very long, so WE HAVE PROGRESSION.

At any rate we'll be meeting sweet baby V very soon. THAT is something I'm incredibly excited about. This time I mean it when I say, I hope my next blog is a baby blog <3

1 Week

Well, we're a week away from Baby V's due date. HOWEVER, baby V will probably not be coming on it's due date or even before, or heck even anywhere near it's due date! haha! Apparently I have a family history of late deliveries. My grandma's first child (my mom) was 3 weeks late, my mom's first kid (my brother) was 19 days late and I was 14 days late. Not to mention at my last appointment, which had me a day short of 39 weeks the doc didn't even find it necessary to check me. LAME. She said I haven't even dropped yet and she's only know 4 people in her 30+ years of practicing that didn't drop at least a week before they went into labor. Maybe I'll be that one... :P Anyway, I think things are changing, but very very very slowly. I can tell that baby is moving down as I get more movements down there, a few more pains down there, TONS of braxton hicks and can't bend over as easy.

Other than that things have been going well. I had my baby shower almost a week ago on Sunday, May 1st. It was beautiful. Amanda and Jessa threw it for me and they always do such a great job!

So here was my cake! SOO cute! Thank you to Terri Raidmae for making the cake and her culinary arts class for making all the cute fondant animals :)

Here's the favors, which were bath salts made by Amanda. At one point during the pregnancy my belly got REALLY itchy. I did a little research and found that oatmeal baths help with itchy skin so I asked Amanda, who makes bath salts on the side, if she made any oatmeal baths. Of course she did and made me a batch. It's actually a honey oatmeal bath salt. Long story short, they made these salts the favors! So cute! She added a little food coloring to match the decor and added personalized ribbon to tie it off. Oh and here's one of the FOUR diaper cakes that were there too :)

Here's the advice box. Great advice and will use it for a scrapbook someday!

Here are some of the guests playing the smell the diaper and guess what it is game. Man, some of these were GROSS!

We played a game where you had to guess how big I was by tearing off a piece of toilet paper. Kali, our youngest competitor ending up winning! She was not even a quarter inch off!

Cutting the cute cake! We had a Chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and a white cake with kiwi/coconut filling! They were both DELISH!

Here's one of the BEAUTIFUL diaper cakes. This one was made by Angela Bartelme. SO SO pretty. The flowers were fresh too! I saved all the little letters and hope to do something with them a little later on :)

And me showing off some of the cute gifts we got. I believe this particular one was from my mom!

Lastly a picture of Jessa and I. I can not thank her enough for everything she's done for me. I didn't get a picture with Amanda unfortunately, but these two together are just amazing. I'm so blessed to have friends like this. Thank you again a million times over!

Now hopefully my next post will be the debut of baby V! One can hope, right?!
